British Steel has signed a new shirt sponsorship deal with Scunthorpe United

The UK’s only primary steelmaker, which has its headquarters in Scunthorpe, has penned a one-year agreement with The Iron.

It will see the company’s logo emblazoned on the front of United’s shirts throughout the 2026-27 season as they chase promotion to the English Football League.

The agreement further strengthens the relationship between the two after the company sponsored the club’s training kit and coaching facilities last season.

British Steel’s Chief Commercial Officer, Lisa Coulson, said: “British Steel and The Iron are at the heart of the Scunthorpe community, and we’re delighted to be backing the club’s promotion push.

“The club, its officials and supporters have stood by our side through challenging times, and we’re excited to continue being on their side – and their shirts – as they look to return to the Football League.

“The Iron had an outstanding campaign last season, and although they just missed out on promotion, they – like us – are building for the future.

“Our company values are Pride, Passion and Progress and we know these are shared by everyone at the club – pride in the shirt, passion for success, and progress to League 2.

“We’re backing Scunthorpe United all the way and know many of our employees, who also support the club, are doing just the same. Up The Iron!”

Scunthorpe United Chair and Co-owner, Michelle Harness, said: "We’re immensely proud to continue our partnership with British Steel and build on their return as our training ground and training wear sponsor.

“This relationship means a great deal to everyone at the club, as it will to our supporters. We saw just how popular the training kit proved to be, and how striking it looked with the British Steel logo across the front, so we’re delighted to unveil three new shirts featuring their branding.

“Strengthening the bond between the club and British Steel has been a major focus for me, and in doing so we’ve built strong and lasting relationships. Both organisations are deeply rooted in Scunthorpe, with proud histories and shared experiences, so we’re thrilled to see the partnership continue and evolve into an exciting new chapter.

“We’re proud for the British Steel name and brand to remain synonymous with the club, and we hope it gives our supporters even more reason to stand tall and back the team. So many local families have deep and enduring connections to both the football club and the steelworks, making this partnership especially meaningful for the whole community.”

Iron Manager Andy Butler said: "Having British Steel continue and expand their partnership with the club is fantastic news for everyone connected with Scunthorpe United. The relationship between the football club and British Steel runs incredibly deep, and it’s something the players, staff and supporters are all proud of.

“When you represent this club, you understand what both Scunthorpe United and British Steel mean to the town and the community. Seeing the supporters wearing the training kit last season showed just how much the partnership resonated, and I know the players are excited to wear the new shirts with the British Steel logo on the front.

“It’s important that we continue to strengthen those ties and represent the pride, hard work and identity of the town every time we step onto the pitch. We’re grateful for British Steel’s continued support and look forward to building on the partnership together.”

The club’s new kits, proudly sporting British Steel’s logo, will be unveiled later this summer.
