British Steel has recently received 6 new Renault Trucks to join its external fleet.
The 6 new T High 480s are the latest additions to its fleet, meaning 10 of the 15 trucks in the fleet are Renaults.
Leased from Thompson’s Commercials, the trucks were handed over by Thompsons Lincolnshire Area Sales Executive, Andy Scotney. They are now operating fully, under-taking long distance journeys across the country with each individual truck covering up to 2,000 miles per week.
The trucks will be used to transfer steel from our sites to our customers all across the country and to ports to be delivered abroad.
The more efficient engines and larger diesel tanks will allow the trucks to travel further distances across the country, while being more fuel efficient.
Thompson’s Commercials Fleet & E-Tech Solutions Manager, Stace Whitehead, visited our Scunthorpe site to deliver training to our fleet drivers, helping them get used to the trucks. Stace delivered first-class driver familiarisation and fuel efficiency training, allowing them to understand the latest vehicle technology and improve fuel economy.

The trucks are supplied on contract hire and will be maintained locally by Clugston Distribution Services, an approved Renault maintenance provider, located close to our Scunthorpe site, continuing a longstanding relationship.
