British Steel is proud to be the headline sponsor of the North Lincolnshire Armed Forces Day Festival, taking place on Saturday 20 June from 10am-5pm at Normanby Hall near Scunthorpe.
The event is free to attend and will include activities such as the official Armed Forces Day ceremony, a military and cadet parade, living history displays and heritage attractions, family activities and live entertainment.
This year’s event marks the relaunch of the region’s Armed Forces Day celebrations, bringing together serving personnel, reservists, veterans, Armed Forces families, cadets and the wider community.
Our involvement builds on our recent commitment to the Armed Forces community, having formally signed the Armed Forces Covenant, and reinforces our dedication to supporting those who serve or have served. At British Steel, some of our colleagues are veterans, reservists or part of Armed Forces families. We recognise the valuable skills and experience they bring and we are committed to ensuring they feel supported and valued.
We will also be hosting a British Steel stand at the event, where attendees can speak to our team about the roles we currently have available and learn more about careers with us. We’re keen to connect with members of the Armed Forces community who may be interested in bringing their skills and experience to British Steel.
Nick Ashton, HR Director at British Steel, said: “We’re proud to support an event that highlights the contribution of the Armed Forces community. Days like this are a chance to recognise the people behind the uniform, and it means a great deal to be part of something that brings everyone together to show that appreciation.”
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader, North Lincolnshire Council, said: “As one of North Lincolnshire's largest employers and a recent signatory to the Armed Forces Covenant, British Steel's support represents a positive example of local organisations recognising and supporting serving personnel, veterans, reservists and Armed Forces families within our communities and workforce.”
Cllr Elaine Marper, North Lincolnshire Council’s Armed Forces Champion, said: “Armed Forces Day is an opportunity to come together to celebrate service, recognise sacrifice and highlight the ongoing contribution of the Armed Forces community across North Lincolnshire.
“We look forward to working with all our sponsors to deliver this great day out.”
