British Steel's Scunthorpe Rod Mill recently hosted a mill tour for our long-term key wire rod customer, Bekaert Ropes.

Employees from Bekaert's Doncaster Wire Drawing Mill and Technology Centre visited British Steel to gain a deeper understanding of the origin of their raw material and the processes involved in manufacturing a critical component of their Bridon® Steel Wire Ropes.

Conrad Dunn, British Steel Technical Account Manager, said: “The visit was very positive and provided a valuable opportunity to showcase our rod mill to Bekaert personnel.

“Over the years, we've built a strong and collaborative relationship, and we remain committed to supporting our customers through continued engagement and shared technical expertise.”

The visit from Bekaert Ropes has helped to further develop our technical relationship, as well as understand mutually beneficial ways of working. British Steel was even later invited to become part of the ISE/106 Standards Committee by Bekaert’s Ropes Technology Centre.
