What was your previous experience before joining British Steel?
I worked in the plumbing and heating industry since my early 20s in a variety of roles from the ground up, including being a Spares Manager, Assistant Branch Manager, Branch Manager, Purchasing Manager, and my final role as the Northern Area Sales manager for Brittherm Pumps, covering the North of England and Scotland. Each role requiring customer interactions and management on a daily basis with a very friendly open approach, I strongly believe in creating strong, long-lasting partnerships with customers.
How much time have you spent with the business?
I joined British Steel in July 2025.
What knowledge do you bring to the business?
With a wealth of experience gained over the years in a very challenging competitive marketplace, I believe I’ve created a strong vision of how we should interact with customers and the type of relationships we create and mould to build a long-lasting partnership which is the key to driving sales.
What do you hope the future holds for you at British Steel?
I’m here to stay is all I can say; I love working here and look forward to progressing in my current role. Then who knows, the sky is the limit.
What does your day-to-day role involve?
I’m the account manager for the German and Nordic regions. My main daily aim is to drive the standards that make us who we are at British Steel. I strive to offer the best possible customer experience we can, supported by the local team in the UK and the regional account managers in their regions, seeking and realising new opportunities.
Why do you enjoy working for British Steel?
I really enjoy the fact that we have a long proud history of making a high quality product that you can be proud to be part of. The teamwork and cooperation is fantastic and although I have only been here 8 months, I’ve been made to feel part of the family and have been supported every step of the way.
What are you most proud of in your career so far?
My time with British Steel has only been for a short amount of time so far, so it’s difficult to say what I’m most proud of. I’d say I’m proud to be part of the great team rods has put together, I have been welcomed in and feel as though I have worked here much longer than I actually have.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
That I’m the eldest from a family that had 3 sets of twins! Two boys, a boy and girl, and two girls.
What advice would you give to other people considering a career at British Steel?
Go for it! This is a great place to work, with a friendly nurturing atmosphere that strives to improve your skill set to make you the best version of yourself. I don’t think I’ve ever been more welcomed into a team than my time here so far. With support from all the internal teams at British Steel you will feel like a part of the family in no time.
