After many years in finance, I was excited to move into manufacturing and join British Steel, where I’ve been able to apply my commercial and relationship‑management experience in a new sector while learning about global steel markets. The move also brought me closer to home, improving my work-life balance and allowing me to be part of a business with a proud industrial heritage.

My background in customer service leadership means I bring a strong focus on customer relationships, communication and collaboration.

I enjoy working closely with customers to understand their challenges and identifying solutions that work for both sides. I also bring experience in managing complex stakeholder relationships and working across multiple teams to deliver results.

The steel industry is highly dynamic, so analytical thinking and adaptability are important, and I enjoy working with data and market insights to support better commercial decisions.

What do you hope the future holds for you at British Steel?

I’m looking forward to continuing to deepen my understanding of the steel industry and strengthening partnerships with our customers.

In the future I hope to continue developing within the commercial side of the business, supporting British Steel’s continued growth in international wire markets and support customers across the global wire industry.

What does your day-to-day role involve?

  • Building long-term strategic partnerships by ensuring high levels of service, product quality and supply reliability
  • Working closely with customers across Europe, coordinating internally with production, technical and customer service teams
  • Supporting commercial discussions on market conditions, product applications and future demand
  • Understanding global market dynamics, international supply chains and regional customer requirements within the highly international wire industry
  • Developing strong product and application knowledge, as wire rod is used in critical applications such as tyre reinforcement, automotive components, construction and infrastructure
  • Engaging with customers and partners at key industry events like Wire Düsseldorf to discuss market developments and strengthen global relationships
  • Looking ahead to Wire 2026, where I’m excited to meet customers and partners and showcase how British Steel continues to support the global wire industry
