One of our specialist trainers has achieved top accreditation for his work at Scunthorpe’s Rod Mill (SRM).

Paul Harvey, resident Continuous Improvement Specialist, has been awarded his Master Black Belt accreditation from the British Quality Foundation for the ‘successful demonstration of the expertise and experience required to implement and embed Lean Six Sigma methodologies’. The award is the highest that can be achieved under the Lean Six Sigma training programme.

It has taken Paul the best part of three years to accomplish through his involvement in the development and delivery of the training programme at SRM.

During this time approximately 30 key people have been trained to White Belt standard, some of whom have already achieved their Yellow Belt Practitioner level status, which has contributed to significant improvements with associated savings for operations.

Paul’s line manager, Adam Lynaugh – SRM Technology Manager, says: “Paul is a well-recognised and respected improvement leader across the business. During his time with Rods he has delivered countless projects personally and collaboratively, coaching many in the Lean Six Sigma Define- Measure-Analyse-Improve-Control (DMAIC) process.

“More recently he has spread his knowledge and expertise further, delivering high quality training and upskilling key individuals from the workforce which has allowed him to complete his Master Black Belt qualification. A fantastic achievement that is fully deserved.”

Paul says: “The business improvement training programme we have developed at Rods has proved very successful in empowering the necessary engagement which has enabled substantial business savings. In doing so I have been able to achieve my Master Black Belt accreditation.”
