Are you interested in an engineering career but aren't sure of what it involves? Well, now you can find out more in our second series of engineering taster days.
On the back of the popular taster days held in April, we're pleased to announce a second series of one-day sessions coming this October. They will be held at our site in Scunthorpe and will cover a range of engineering trades, providing a great insight into what it’s like to work in engineering.
Helen Rennie, Training & Learning Lead, said: "We’ll be running the next engineering taster days in October half term and they'll cover mechanical and electrical engineering as well as fabrication and welding. Attendees will get hands-on experience of some basic engineering skills across a range of disciplines in our Apprentice Training Centre Workshop.
"Our first group of attendees found the sessions very informative. The taster days gave them a good indication of whether engineering could be for them, helping them make an informed career choice. I'm pleased to say some of them have now been offered apprenticeships and will be starting their careers with us in September.
"It's a really exciting to join our industry - steel is vital to modern economies and we certainly have a crucial role to play in manufacturing clean, green steel. Engineering skills, of course, are vital in our industry so it’s extremely important to maintain a strong pipeline of talented individuals coming into our business.
"If you or someone you know is interested in finding out more, please get in touch.”
